There are changes set to take place to off-payroll working in the private sector which is coming into effect from 6th April this year. These changes will bring the Private Sector in line with the Public Sector, where similar changes took place in 2017.
The new IR35 legislation means that responsibility for IR35 assessment will shift from contractors to the entity paying the contractor, which is usually the agency or client. As a result, many sectors, for example, finance, have made a decision to not engage with limited company contractors. This means there is a large demand for existing limited company contractors to switch to a PAYE engagement, such as an Umbrella company, in order to continue working on the assignment.
